World’s Bizarre and Awful-Looking Pigs | Scienceray 


Do you know that there are around two billion domestic pigs in the world? That’s about 1/3 of the world population. If all these pigs are affected by swine flu – the result will be a very devastating worldwide disaster.

Domestic pigs are also by far the most numerous pig species on the planet.  This article is focused on species of pigs rather on breeds of pig although two breeds are included on the list. For a while, forget all about the Flu Pandemic and see some of the most unique and peculiar-looking pigs in the world.

These animals are weird-looking. The Bearded Pig also known as the Bornean Bearded Pig of Southeast Asia can be easily recognized by its prominent beard ant its tail that has tassels. This species can be found in the rainforests and mangrove forests of Sumatra, Borneo and eastern part of the Philippines. It is known that it can reproduce from the age of 18 months and can be cross-bred with other species of Suidae family.
