Mangrove Pit Viper (Trimeresurus purpureomaculatus)


The colorful Mangrove Pit Viper is a beauty to behold but should not be touch or handled because it is dangerously deadly. This venomous snake is also commonly known as Shore Pit Viper and can be found in India and Southeast Asia. It can grow up to 90 cm. other common names are Mangrove Viper, Purple-spotted Pit Viper and Shore Pitviper.

Banded Krait (Bungarus fasciatus)


The Banded Krait is a pretty and colorful but venomous sea snake. The most dangerous and most venomous are sea snakes so beware of them although most are shy and docile. The Banded Krait can be found Bangladesh, South China and Southeast Asia. It is the largest species of krait and can grow up to 2.12 meters in length. Its venom contains a neurotoxin and can cause respiratory failure. There are few authenticated records of human beings having been bitten.

Green Bush Viper (Atheris squamigera)


Green Bush Viper comes in 3 color pattern. They are like puppies that come in different colors. It is also commonly called Variable Bush Viper and Leaf Viper. This venomous snake is native to west and central Africa. This deadly snake can grow up to 60 cm in length and often kept in captivity despite the danger it brings.

The Black-speckled Palm-pitviper, or Speckled Palm Viper, is a lovely-looking but venomous snake. It can be found in the mountains of Panama and Costa Rica. It can attain a length of 93.7 centimeters. Fatalities have been reported, with the bite symptoms including intense pain, nausea and asphyxia.

Bamboo Viper (Trimeresurus gramineus)

The brightly-colored Bamboo Viper or Indian Tree Viper is a venomous snake that can be found only in southern India. This reptile can grow up to a length of up to 76 cm or 2.5 ft.

Waglers Viper (Tropidolaemus wagleri)


The Wagler's Pit Viper or Temple Viper is a venomous snake endemic to Southeast Asia. This deadly snake can grow up to 75 cm. Its venom is strong hemotoxin and is potentially fatal to humans.

Western Green Mamba (Dendroaspis viridis)


The Western Green Mamba or West African Green Mamba is a relatively long snake with thin body. This colorful venomous snake can be found in West Africa, Cote d’Ivoire and Liberia.

Here they are, the deadliest colorful snakes in the world...

1.) Texas Coral Snake (Micrurus tener)


Texas Coral Snakes are brightly-colored venomous snake of the United States. Their traditional coloration is black, yellow and red banding. These lovely-looking but deadly snakes can attain a length of up to 100 cm. Texas Coral Snake venom is a powerful neurotoxin and causes neuromuscular dysfunction. Death was primarily due to respiratory or cardiovascular failure.

2.) Eastern Coral Snake (Micrurus fulvius)


Another colorful but dangerous snake is the venomous Eastern Coral Snake. It is also commonly known as Common Coral Snake or American Cobra.It is endemic to the United States.


It is capable of growing to a length of up to 122 cm. Females are usually longer than males.

3.) Red Spotted Pitviper (Trimeresurus jerdonii xanthomelas)


The Red Spotted Pitviper is a brilliantly colored venomous snake native to Central and Southern China. It is characterized by bright red spots all over its body combined with yellow and black coloration.

4.) Blue Malayan Coral Snake (Calliophis bivirgatus)


The beautiful Blue Malaysian Coral Snake is a colorful venomous snake that can be found in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. It can attain a length of up to 140 cm or 5 ft.


The color is indigo or deep blue with light blue or white stripes along each side of the body. The head, venter, and tail are bright red. The venom is very potent and has caused deaths. Victims may feel numbness near the wound and lip and death is a result of respiratory failure. The venom glands of this species are exceptionally long and extend beyond the jaw for one-third the length of the body

5.) White-lipped Island Pitviper (Trimeresurus albolabris)


This attractive snake comes in two colors. The one on the above photo is the yellow phase. It can be found in the Wetar Island, Indonesia.



The second phase is the green with yellow stripes and the tail is red. It can be found in the islands of Java, Bali and neighboring islands. These snakes are dangerous because they are venomous.

6.) Boomslang (Dispholidus typus)

The Boomslang is a small, colorful but venomous reptile endemic to sub-Saharan Africa. Its name means “tree snake” - “tree” (boom) and “snake” (slang). This snake has highly potent venom, which it delivers through large fangs that are located in the rear of the jaw. Boomslangs may open their jaws 90 degrees when biting. The venom of the Boomslang is primarily a hemotoxin; it disables the blood clotting process and the victim may well die as a result of internal and external bleeding.

7.) Yellowbelly Sea Snake (Pelamis platura)


Yellowbelly Sea Snake is an attractive snake but dangerously deadly because it is venomous. It can be found in tropical oceanic waters all over the world. Its venom is highly potent and is potentially lethal. "This snake is about 10 times more venomous than the Egyptian Cobra. It is also commonly called Pelagic Sea Snake or the Yellow-bellied Sea Snake.
