Best in Defense: Unique Armored Animals
Warriors, most especially during the medieval period wore armor for protection when they go to war. Some animals have developed external or superficial protection against attack by predators, formed as part of the body usually through the hardening of body tissues, outgrowths or secretions. It has therefore mostly developed in prey species.
Here are some uniquely armored animals of the past and present.
1. Glyptodon

This armored animal is really huge and with its relatively large size, it does not need an armor anymore. It is called Glyptodon, a large, armored mammal, related to the armadillo that lived during the Pleistocene Epoch. Flatter than a Volkswagen Beetle, but about the same general size and weight, Glyptodon is believed to have been an herbivore, grazing on grasses and other plants found near rivers and small bodies of water. A large and heavy mammal, it could probably only have moved one or two miles per hour.
